Когато кучето се чеше често, първото нещо, което идва на ум, са бълхи или паразити. Но има и други причини за сърбеж, като алергии. Алергиите при кучета не са необичайни и броят на алергичните заболявания в последно време се увеличава.
Основните алергии при кучета са: алергия към слюнката на бълхи, екологична алергия - атопия и хранителна алергия.
И трите алергии може да се проявяват едновременно при кучета с повече или по-малко симптоми. Следователно диагнозата често може да бъде трудна. Освен това едно куче може да има няколко алергии едновременно.
Алергията към бълхи не е специфична за определена породата. Кучетата от двата пола са еднакво засегнати. Обикновено се причинява от по-малко специфичната за гостоприемника котешка бълха (Ctenocephalides felis), но други видове бълхи също могат да причинят алергията. Алергията към бълхи може да се появи на всяка възраст, но не преди навършване на шест месеца. Алергията към бълхи се предизвиква от протеини в слюнката на бълхите. Ухапването от бълха не само изсмуква кръвта на кучето, но и инжектира слюнката на бълхата в същото време. Едно от условията за появата на атопия е предразположеността на кучето да реагира силно на алерген. Тези кучета реагират на безвредни вещества от околната среда, като прашец, трева, домашен прах и мухъл със силно образуване на антитела. Това причинява масивна възпалителна реакция с увреждане на тъканите. Симптомите могат да се наблюдават сезонно при реакции например към треви. Алергените влизат в тялото през дихателните пътища или кожата.
Хранителна алергия - Няма предразположеност към хранителна алергия по порода или пол. Освен това може да започне на всяка възраст. Истинската хранителна алергия изисква кучето да консумира определена храна за продължителен период от време, преди да реагира прекомерно. Здравото животно развива имунологична толерантност към компонентите на храната. Въпреки това, ако защитната функция на чревната лигавица е намалена, алергените могат да преодолеят чревната бариера и да предизвикат алергична реакция.
Според съвременните познания, алергени при кучета са протеини или протеинови съединения с определен размер, които се съдържат в храната. Следователно всеки протеин може да доведе до алергични реакции, като вероятността се увеличава с честотата на приема. У нас най-честите отключващи алергии са от говеждото, млякото и млечните продукти, яйцата, пшеницата и пилешкото. Основният симптом при всички алергии е сърбежът. В случай на алергия към бълхи, вашето куче се чеше постоянно. Задната половина на тялото е особено засегната, задната част на гърба, крупата, основата на опашката, задните крака и стомаха. Кучетата се чешат и хапят в тези области, което често води до така наречената гореща точка, самонаранена, възпалена и плачеща рана, причинена от силния сърбеж. Тези зони също често са колонизирани с бактерии и дрожди, което допълнително засилва сърбежа. При атопия и хранителна алергия моделът на разпространение на пруритуса е много сходен, което затруднява разграничаването. Сърбежът се появява в областта на главата, лапите, подмишниците, корема, вътрешната част на бедрата и ушите. Сърбежът включва не само чесане, но и близане, особено на лапите, а също и търкаляне и триене.
Стомашно-чревни симптоми: В случай на хранителна алергия, вашият четириног приятел може да страда от храносмилателни разстройства и да има стомашно-чревни симптоми като повръщане, диария, метеоризъм, силна коремна болка и разхлабени изпражнения.
Възпаление - възниква в областта на лапите и ушите (на външния слухов проход). Бактериите и дрождите често се заселват върху увредената кожа, причинявайки инфекция (вторична инфекция) и допълнителен сърбеж. На лапите се появява възпаление в областта между пръстите и долната страна на лапата.
Дори ако симптомите не показват алергия към бълхи, тя трябва да се изключи в началото. Ветеринарният лекар преглежда кучето за бълхи и изпражнения от бълхи с гребен против бълхи. Намирането на един от тях потвърждава подозрението. За диагностика може да се използва и интрадермален тест. При този тест алергенът от бълхи и контролните вещества се инжектират в кожата на гръдната стена и се търсят алергични реакции на 15-30 минути, 4-6, 24 и 48 часа. Има и кръвни тестове за диагностициране на алергия към бълхи, но те дават информация само за реакции от тип I. Възможна е и диагностична терапия. Кучето и всички животни, живеещи в домакинството, се третират с подходящи препарати против бълхи. Вероятна е алергия към бълхи, ако опитът за лечение работи.
Диагнозата атопия се поставя клинично и чрез изключване на други заболявания. Диагнозата атопия може да се постави само когато някои аспекти са изяснени. Симптомите, възрастта, моделът на сърбеж и други точки трябва да отговарят. Освен това трябва внимателно да се изключат други причини за сърбеж.
Според препоръките на дерматолозите само елиминационна диета или диета за изключване има смисъл за потвърждаване или отхвърляне на хранителна алергия. С тази диета кучето трябва да бъде хранено с източник на протеини и въглехидрати, който никога преди не е приемало за период от поне осем седмици. Тъй като той все още не е имал контакт с тези вещества, той не може да реагира на тях. По време на диетата на кучето не трябва да се дава нищо друго за ядене, лакомствата и наградите трябва да се състоят от съставки, предназначени за диетата.
